e-mail address policy not applying to distribution groups
The Default Policy in E-mail Address Policies is not applied to email distribution groups. This is Exchange 2007 sp2. I removed an internal email name from the policy. It was removed from the users but not from the distribution groups. I didn't recieve any errors regarding the distribution groups.

Same result as hitting apply in the management console. Users have the correct policy but distribution groups aren't updated.

Have u also confirmed that these problematic distribution groups have "EmailAddressPolicyEnabled" flag selected. Get-distributiongroup "DGName" | FL EmailAddressPolicyEnabled If it return false then first make it true or check this flag in EMC. The flag is set to true. None of the distribution groups were updated, so is there a global flag for this?

Hi Andrew, It’s unable to remove the recipients’ email address by using email address policy. Please understand that Email Address Policy just generates email address for recipients. For example, if your default policy contains two email addresses: domain1.com and domain2.com. You remove the domain1.com and then apply this policy to the recipients. It just add user@domain2.com for the recipient again. The user@domain1.com will not be remove from recipient' attributes. So you need to remove the email address from the Distribution groups manually. If there are many Distribution groups need to be updated, I recommend you use the ADmodify tool: http://www.msexchange.org/articles/ADModify-Change-Exchange-Specific-AD-User-Attributes.html

Good to know. I'll mark as the answer unless someone has anything else to add.
