disabling a user
I was supposed to disable a user. So I disabled them in AD. Then I think I went a step to far. I disabled them in Exchange 2007. Now I can't find the user in AD or Exchange. I was only supposed to disable him. But his account has disappeared. Where is the account? How can I make it show but have it disabled? I've looked in Recipient Configuration>Disconnected Mailbox. But that is empty. Also in the future should I only disable in AD? Will that also disable the user in Exchange?

I disabled them in Exchange 2007. Perhaps you selected "Remove" instead of "Disable" in the Exchange Management Console? If you did, you deleted the AD user object. Hi, Users mailboxes deleted from EMC are shown in disconnected mailboxes next day. If you want to see them immediately you can use --> clean-mailboxdatabase -identity You can get help on the command using --> get-help clean-mailboxdatabase Thanks.

Hi, Please check out your steps for disabling a user in detail. If you just disable a user in AD and Exchange Management Control, the user will still in the AD which there is a red cross in the lower right corner of the icon, and the user’s mailbox can be viewed in the Disconnected mailbox, but you said, when you disable a user in EMC, you have not seen it in AD. Perhaps you have removed the user, because, it will disappear from AD when you removed the mailbox in the EMC, so I recommend you check the steps for disabling a user.
