i have an exchange server 2003 I wasnt to monitor the following with nagios. Queue status Total amount of mails in each queue amount of emails in each queue in retry state Are there any server performance counters to cover this

Exchange 2003 utilizes the IIS SMTP service, so you have the perfmon counters which are available for the service in Windows.

Perfmon will give all required data to you. Add what all components you want of transport to it.
