corrupt or incomplete priv1.edb and priv1.stm
Hello,
We have SBS 2003 SP2, with Exchange server SP2. Our Exchange database size is around 35GB.
Lately when I run SBS Integrated Backup I get this error:
Backup Type: Normal
Backup started on 8/05/2010 at 8:51 PM.
WARNING: Portions of "\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA\priv1.edb" cannot be read.
The backed up data is corrupt or incomplete.
This file will not restore correctly.
WARNING: Portions of "\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA\priv1.stm" cannot be read.
The backed up data is corrupt or incomplete.
This file will not restore correctly.
Backup completed on 8/05/2010 at 9:52 PM.
Directories: 5355
Files: 47247
Corrupt: 2
Bytes: 50,208,541,879
Time:
1 hour, 0 minutes, and
45 seconds
I defragged the database using
eseutil /d as well as isinteg but still the same.
Any help will be appreciated.

Is the "SBS Integrated Backup" , Exchange aware?
You cant do file level backups of Exchange when the Exchange Services are running.
If it is Exchange aware, then there should be some events and errors referencing the exhcange corruption. Please post those here.

Thank you for your Reply,
I checked the Event IDs and the onlt event ID: 5634 and when I check the SBS Backup log I get the above error.
I went through the rest of the Event IDs during the ntbackup process and I cannot see any errors with Exchange Database. I cannot findout where this error comes from.

SBS 2003 uses ntbackup that is Exchange aware backup.

Ok, if there are problems with the Exchange aware backup, then the event logs will definetely have something.
Does the event log should completion of the backup and truncation of the exhcange logs?
Have you run ExBpa against the server?

Hi,
In case of .edb file corruption, try this third party
edb repair tool to repair priv1.edb and priv1.stm files. This
Exchange Server Repair software repairs corrupt, damaged and inaccessible Exchange database files. It can also
recover deleted mailboxes in MS Exchange Server.
