I did a dialtone recovery, then restore to RSG, then the merge. Pretty standard stuff. I randomly have outlook clients delivering mail to \sync issues\server failures\ folder as well as corrupted calendar items. Ex 2007 sp2 - no rollup, 1 server runs all rolls. Try creating a new Outlook profile or deleting the ost and recreating the cache for those clients.

I had tried the outlook client stuff and the problems still happened. The first fix was move-mailbox to another SG/DB, but then ran into the logging level bug and applied RU3; that fixed it. I had cranked up message access logging level to high; apparantly that bug caused some calendar corruption pre rollup 2. http://exchangedeepthoughts.blogspot.com
