contacts using SMS phone address do not work in dist. list
I have created several contacts for sending SMS text messages to our phones ( using  phone#@xyz.com ),  all works well, and text messages are recieved when send via outlook.   When i make a Dist List, and include these contacts, nothing works. No messages are received at the phone.  Using Exchange 2010 sp2, and outlook 2013.    If i include some emails that are on phones.. they get delivered to the phone, but not the text message, to the same phone.     Am i missing something..

Hi,

As far as I know, Text Message(SMS) feature has been removed since Outlook 2013, so I'm not sure how you performed the step to send SMS messages, could you please provide the detailed steps?

Or are you using some 3rd-party add-ins to do it?

ok here's what i did.

A: in AD created new contacts -- for the user phones.   with the standard  #@vtext.com .. for Verizon

-- tried to insert image-- but didnt allow

B:  In outlook  i can send an e-mail to this contact, and i receive it on my phone. all is good

C:  Then i made ( on Exchange -- EMC gui) a dist group, and added this contact. When i send to the Group No text is received.  If i add my personal e-mail Gmail address, i receive it at Gmail, but no text on phone.

D: Our desire is to have ON support people get alerts texts to their phone, sent from various Dist group.

Hi,

Please try to:

1. Send the message to one contact via OWA, check if the contact's phone can receive the text message.

2. Send the message to the Distribution Group via OWA, check if they can receive the text message by phone.

I'm not familiar with this scenario, wondering how the email is transferred to text message. But if sending from OWA gets the same result as sending from Outlook, I would say it's not an Outlook issue so we can provide little help here.

Kindly let me know the result above to help me determine the issue scope.
