configure exchange to send and receive external mail
Hello All, Thanks for your help in advance. First time setting up Exchange. I have purchased a 2008 SBS with Exchange 2007. Have installed OS and Exchange. The AD is widjet.local. I have a company that I use to house my website, so I also have a widjet.com domain. I would like to use Exchange 2007 to send and receive emails externally. So can anyone step me through on how to configure exchange server in a .local domain to send and receive email. Thanks again so much.

You will need to create a MX on your domain host provider assigning your domain IP address to the domain name i.e. let's say your external domain name's IP Address is 10.1.1.1 Service Name IP Address MX 10.1.1.1 on your router create a port to allow port 25 for incoming and outgoing. That should be it.

Hi, First, you must own a public domain name and a public IP address. 1. Select a ISP to register a Internet domain name, such as domain.com. 2. Add the host record record such as mail.domain.com and point to your public IP address.Create A mx record point to mail.domain.com. 3. If the exchange server does not host this puiblic IP and it is connectting to a router. We need to set the 80 and 443 port traffic forward rule in your router.
