combine 2 email servers into 1 during migration
I have 2 Exch 2007 sp3 servers in the same exchange org. They hold mailboxes for 2 separate email domains. When I migrate to Exch 2013 in a few months, I want to move the mailboxes from one server to the other such that I only have 1 Exchange server servicing the 2 different domains. Does anyone see any problems or have any suggestions for this configuration? Thanks

Hello, When you will migrate the Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 for two different domain you will need to allow trust between Domain. Exchange 2013 supports two types of multiple forest topologies and cross-forest and resource forest. Its not problem you need to plan carefully, read this article. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298099(v=exchg.150).aspx Eli. The 2 current Exch 2007 servers reside in the same AD domain, but they service 2 different email domains. The new exch2013 server will be in the same AD domain as the current Exch 2007 servers.

You can move mailboxes from your two Exchange 2007 to a new Exchange 2013 Server. If you have applied Exchange 2007 address list segregation, you should know that you need to replace that will Address Book Policies. See: Deploying Address Book Policies Martina Miskovic

Thanks for the replies. I won't be making the move until August, but needed to plan for hardware and licensing.
