cannot send email to imported gal contacts
I exported my GAL on my exchange 2003 server. I need to give all these contacts to another part of the business that is not on exchange. When I connect to the "NON" exchange server and imported via csv and/or pst, email gets stuck in the outbox. If I open the contact then click email, it will send. If I go to my inbox and then click "TO" and select the user it wont send? I am using outlook 2007. Can some help me out? The only way I have seen to correct this is to create the contacts from scratch and I dont want to have to do this.... I need to give my users all the contacts from the GAL who are not on the exchange server. Yes, the goal is to get everyone on exchange but that wont be for 6 months when we create the new email domain

Hi, I guess the Imported Contacts are not updated in Exchange GAL. I understand you want to use the contacts to be used in Global Address list. You may use the first article down here OR You may do that by placing those external contacts into a Public folder. Ref the articles to know how to do that. Ref to: How to use Csvde to import contacts and user objects into Active Directory http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327620 Using Public Folders to Hold Company Contacts http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF018.html How to add Public Folder Contacts to the list of Address Books in Outlook so anyone can send e-mail to a shared contact http://uksbsguy.com/blogs/doverton/archive/2007/04/09/how-to-add-public-folder-contacts-to-the-list-of-address-books-in-outlook-so-anyone-can-send-e-mail-to-a-shared-contact.aspx All the Best :) Sathish Kumar Elango | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging | http://msexchangehelp.wordpress.com

I figured it out. They exported the users address as an x400 instead of smtp
