cannot run /PrepareDomain
I have been trying to install 2k7 on a new server in an existing domain with an existing exchange 2k3 infrastructure. I have followed all of the steps including running 'setup /prepareAD'. However, the setup wizard still tells me that I have to run 'setup /prepareAD'. I have verified that the schema has been upgraded, and that it has replicated throughout AD. But I still get the error, and I cannot run 'setup /PrepareDomain'. If you look in the log file it even states that AD has been updated. But then it errors with the same must run 'setup /prepareAD'. We have a forest with a child domain. Two exchange 2003 servers, one in the root domain and one in the child. I am installing 2k7 in the child domain, with the intention of removing the exchange 2k3 server when all data has been moved to the new server. Our other office (on the root domain) will be staying on 2k3 for the forseeable future. The child domain controller is currently the schema master and the GC. Any one have any ideas what i may have missed? OK, my bad. I came in this morning and /preparedomain ran without a hitch. Apparently, replication took longer than I expected. We only have two DCs so I thought that 15 to 20 minutes would be enough. But apparently our VPN tunnel slows it down a bit. Installing Exchange as i write.
