cannot reconnect to user
Hello I have 1 domain WIN2K3 with one Exchange 2K3 SP2 server. I am trying to reconnect a mailbox to the mailbox recover USER I have created . the select a new user dialog box cannot find the user . I have pointed to the exact OU. I have tried to type the name in manually . It will not find it , further when conducting larger searches it finds users that are not even mailbox enabled like my Admin account. What could possibly be the issue the searching function of Exchange 2003. any help would be appreciated

Have you verified that you don't already have a mailbox connected to your recovery user? It will not let you connect another mailbox if there is already one associated.

I'd have to agree with you and that seems to explain the search results I'm getting. Is there a quick way to find out which mailbox it might be connected to or do I have to check the permissions tab of each mailbox enabled user ?? Thanks for your help

Sorry for the delay in responding... As far as determining if your recovery userhas a mailbox associated or not you can do two things: 1. In Active Directory Users and Computers you can see if the Exchange tabs are there when you look at the properties of the user account. 2. In Exchange System Manager you can look through the mailbox listings to determine if there is an active mailbox with the name of your recovery user. One other thing that I have seen is even if the user doesn't currently have a mailbox associated, you may need to remove any Exchange attributes by going to Active Directory Users and Computers and right click the users and select Exchange Tasks and then go through and select Remove Exchange Attributes. Hope this helps. Lee
