Dear Gurus, I have just deployed my first exchange 2010 on a Windows 2008 R2 and have applied all the updates through the Microsoft updates. I have also created some mailboxes. We all have Outlook 2007 Professional. I CANNOT connect any of the Outlooks to the Exchange. After creating automatically the exchange profile the Outlook is launched and I get "you must connect to microsoft exchange with the current profile before you can syncronize your folders with your offline folder file" and Outlook closes down. having said that the OWA launches and logs in to the account. all those who have a mailbox setup can login to OWA. Hi Bina, Did you check by removing OST file from machine for problem user and check ?. If it wont work for all users then check whther autodiscover is working or not. If you start Outlook you can see the small Outlook icon in lower right corner of your (Windows) PC. Hello Bina, Any update on the issue? I have seen this several time, Most of the time it's because of .OST file. Remove or Rename the old .OST file and remove the current outlook profile and recreate the new Outlook profile. Post the update. Hi, Because nobody can connect to Exchange server 2010 with Outlook 2007. So I think it is a server side issue. It seems you didn’t install Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Packs on Hub Transport or Mailbox Server role. Make sure you have installed all the hotfixes especially the segment of “Install the Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system prerequisites” Exchange 2010 Prerequisites Run the Best Practices Analyzer tool, I think the report would tell you the problem. Hi Gulab, many thanks for the reply and apologies for my late response as I was so busy on other projects. yes indeed, I have removed/deleted/renames the ost files from the computers having the problem with no success what so ever. Jeromi has suggested the cause could be the lack of Office 2010 filter pack. I will check this out and feedback later on this eveining. many thanks once again for assisting me on this. Kindly check the Check box "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent" on User in Active Directory Users and Computers or Adsiedit.msc Before you do it, check what is the status of it, is it checked or unchecked. I am thinking of applying the SP1 for Exchange 2010. is this a good idea? I am beginning to think that if the SP1 doesn't resolve the issue I reinstall the Exchange. Hello Bina, Did you tried the steps i given? Applying SP1 on the server is good idea, but keep in mind that it requires schema extension as well. I am so sorry to sound so dumb, but I cannot find this setting under the "Active Directory Users and Computers". is this some setting for the specific user's account that fails to launch the OL for? or are we talking about access security settings? Hello Bina, Go to Adsiedit.msc...>Domain Partition...>In Domain Partition go to the OU where the User is. Note: If you are accessing the Adsiedit.msc than by default you won't get the domain partition..You will have to select from the Drop Down Menu and select Domain Naming Context. In order to verify it, could you please try to use Outlook 2003 to connect Exchange server and post the result? I still think it is a server side issue.

Hi Jerome, Hope U R ok mate. I have tried it with OL 2003 and got exactly the same error message. Also after typing the server's name and the user's logon ID in to th einitial OL Exchange setup box, it took about 10 minutes to find and underline the logon ID. aftwer this I launched the app and after a minute or so it came back with exactly the same error message. I am beginning to think to reinstall the Exchange from scratch or is that a bit extreme you think? cheers, Bina

Dear Gulab, Hope U R ok mate. I have done it and did exactly as you have suggested. I still get the same error message but ironically OWA is fine. Do you think Uninstalling/reinstalling the exchange from scratch is a good idea given the fact that soon after the installation Outlook 2007 had no problems logging in to it and only after applying the SP1 this issue has appeared! This I only found out last night that one of the techi guyg (while I was away and having left the company now), had applied the SP1 to the box. If I have to go down the uninstall scenario, would I do it from Control Panel/Add remove..and uninstall the exchange from there? I suppose to completely uninstall the exchangre there are other steps that I need to take. Please advise if so. I need to get the box up and running by end of the month or else..!! Hello Bina, NO WAYS, uninstalling and re installing the server is not going to fix the issue. One good thing is OWA is working. One thing i want to know is (Which i should have been asked before) Is it a migrated scenario? Create New Mailbox and configure the profile on different workstation and post the result. Hi Gulab, no mate, a fresh install from scratch. I already had done this, by creating user1,user2 etc. created fresh profiles for them on different virtual win7 machines but on each occasion I got exactly the same error. the only one time where the error was slightly diffreent was when I tried a fresh user3/profile on OL2010 on a virtual win7 machine. so this I already have exhausted! I think I now have to uninstall the Exchange2010 anyway. I have tried the CP/Add/Remove, The Exchange server 2010 setup runs the prerequisites and under the Mailbox Role Prerequisites I get the below error message: "Uninstall cannot continue. Datyabase "Mailbox Database 147130413". The Mailbox Database containes one or more mailboxes, mailbox plans, archeive mailbox, or arbitration mailbox....." Hi mate, trying to remove the DB from the MMC GUI generates exactly the same error message as: "The mailbox database 'Mailbox Database 1487130413' cannot be deleted. Mailbox Database 1487130413 Failed Error: This mailbox database contains one or more mailboxes, mailbox plans, archive mailboxes, or arbitration mailboxes. To get a list of all mailboxes in this database......" I have to remove the server from the box as the hardware is NOT dedicated and appears to belong to another company so potential legal..bla bla... issues in future many thanks mate, Rgds, Bina
