cannot connect mailbox using the pop/imap protocol

hello people

i have 2 cas server with 6 mailbox servers. am on Exchange 2013, am in the middle of a migration from exchange server 2007 also.

I have enabled pop and imap and set the logon to plain text login.

I have 3 mailboxes. listed as . mailboxA, mailboxb and mailboxc.

the primary mailbox is mailboxa, all mails on mailbox b are forwarded from A and all mailbox on c are forwarded from b.

i can use outlook to connect to connect to mailbox a using pop/imap. i can also do thesame for B. but i cannot for C.

I have an application that only speaks the pop/imap protocol and so i need to connect mailbox c to my application as b is been used by another application and A cannot be used for certain reasons.

Why am i not able to connect to mailbox c? on my application i get authentification failure. wrong username and password but i can connect to mailbox c using owa with thesame password and username but on outlook i get a server timeout error.

Lastly for pop/imap what ip address should i use as the smtp address. is it the cas server? that doesnt work. is it the mailbox server? that doesnt work either

Hi,

I suggest you could do Remote Connectivity Analyzer first.

For your convenience:https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/

Then post the result here.

I have noticed that only mailbox C dont connect to mailbox when using pop/imap. Please run the following command to check its setting :

Get-CASMailbox -Identity MailboxC | FL Identity,*enabled*

Then you should check the outlook setting if it is configured correctly.

In addiction, we can try to logon mailbox C on the other computer to check if the issue persists.

In the end, please post them here if you receive some related logs.

Best Regards,

David
