we currently have one small server.it runs email, web services, it has all of our user files and a dozen other software packages for our organization. last week some of our users started accessing their email thru this web site. since then iis, terminal services, and external email have started failing. we have to reboot for everything to work again.

Hi Keith, I suggest doing a couple of things. First, if possible, have the policy makers in your company craft and communicate a policy that prohibits using this or similar services. Next, you should be able to look through the IIS log files and find the IP address(es) of the servers used by this service. Once you have those addresses, you can block them at your firewall, thereby preventing access to your email system from those servers. I have no experience or knowledge of this particular service, but I would imagine that they are just performing the same logon and mail commands that a typical user (POP3, IMAP, or OWA) would do. So it seems strange that you would have issues. One thing to look at is to see if this service is persisting connections to your server, which might have the effect of draining resources. You can go to a command prompt and do netstat -a -p tcp to get a list of connections against your server. If you see long-standing open connections from this service, then that might be the other issue. A couple of other recommendations: (1) Visit Microsoft Update and make sure you have the latest code installed. There may be software updates or updated drivers available that might help resolve the failures. (2) Run the latest version of the Exchange Server Best Practices Analyzer against your Exchange server and your Active Directory server(s) and make sure everything checks out OK. Hope this helps.
