autodiscover name and incoming request
Hello, we know that the autodiscover provides the https links for Outlook clients to get the needed information from the server like Free/Busy Time. OAB etc.. but why has it been given a different name since from the DNS it is given the same wan ip as the mail.domain.com A resource record. My question is why autodiscover, could it be to make it a standard name ? By the way if I have an Edge Server, should the gateway forward all incoming port 25 requests to the CAS or to the Edge Server ?

That may be true for your company, but it isn't true for all companies. >My question is why autodiscover, could it be to make it a standard name ? I has been given a standard name! It's "Autodiscover". >By the way if I have an Edge Server, should the gateway forward all incoming port 25 requests to the CAS or to the Edge Server ? I think you mean "Hub Transport". And, yes, it should. The send and receive connectors should be created as part of the synchronization setup. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Hello I agree with Rich Autodiscover is a standard name actually its service which is used for client profile information. In exchange Edge server send and receives all messages and routes it to HUB transport for inside organization. Thanks Mhussain
