any message from a particular email address must go to a certain internal AD distribution list (or acct)
We have Exchange 2000 on an AD Windows 2000 Domain. My boss asked me today to setup an internal AD distribution list (DL)so that all inbound SMTP emails from a certain email address are routed to that DL. I don't see anywhere in System Manager for Exch2K to do that. Please advise.

Hi, If you just savea copy of all emails within your organization , then you can just set the journaling process or automatic forward function like links below. But if you want the email from aCertain smtp address to be forwarded to the other email address then maybe you have to set on your local client as a rule. Hi, We need to develop a customize event sink to auto-forward messages from a specific external email address. I suggest you post the problem on the development forum for Exchange Server http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=838&SiteID=17 Mike

Hello Doug, What is your goal behind this? Actually there isnt any option available natively in Exchange to route the mails coming from certain email address to a DL like we have Transport Rules and Transport Agent in Exchange 2007 as a built-in feature. Here is a workaround and other available options. Procedure of a Workaround: - Create a new storage group & a database. Create a new Journaling user in AD and place a mailbox on newly created database. Dont set journaling for this new database. Set circular login on storage group. Set mail item retention period to 0 since you dont require deleted mail to be recovered. - Set journaling on all the databases with destination as a new journal mailbox. How to Enable Exchange Journaling http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996378(EXCHG.65).aspx - Now login on the journaling mailbox and create a server siderule to route emails coming from specific email address then forward it to a DL. - Create and set mailbox manager policy to control the journal mailbox and delete the emails which are older than 1 days. How to use recipient policies to control mailboxes in Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2000 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319188 OR You need to develop a custom event sink for Exchange 2003 to accomplish your goal. We have communication by email with a larger customer which they are saying will all come from one email address and when it comes in management wants me to make sure I route it (regardless of whom it was sent to) to a DL.

Do you know of any third party tools? Also, how much space would the Journaling take? Is there some way to calculate or get a rough estimate?
