Hi all, If we need to change exchange forest name, is there a downtime involved with exchange 2003 SP2? how about exchnage 2007 SP2? How should I change it if ther is no downtime? Thank you.

Hi, It is not supported in Exchange 2007 or 2010, I have personal experience in 2007 trying to rename and it doesn't work. Take a look at the following blog post as well. http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis/renaming-a-2003-ad-domain-that-has-exchange-2007 The only option would be to uninstall exchange, change the domain name and then reinstall. I wouldn't do that, instead I would plan for a migration to a new domain Even if it maybe works to rename the domain, it's unsupported and means that if you have any trouble you can't receive the necessary help. You have to migrate users, groups, resources etc You can use ADMT for this or any 3rd party tools Ripu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

You can't change the Exchange org name. If you want to change the Exchange org name then you will need to create a new Forest and domain, and do a cross forest migration. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP. http://blog.sembee.co.uk , http://exbpa.com/
