am i best to create users in exchange 07 or in ad server 08
I have installed enterprise server 08 and exchange server 07, I have been told that I am better to create my users in exchange and let exchange populate active directory and that I can then move the users into specific ou's in server 08. is this correct?

Hi,If you create users in exchange (console or shell after yourpreference) users are mail enabledimmidiately. This does create users in active directory directlyas Exchange uses active directory as its directory. When creating users in Exchange you can also decide during creating which OU the users should reside in.Leif

HI, yes you can create Users using EMC or EMS then it will populate AD. You can mention where you want to place users in AD.Create User in specified OUNew-Mailbox -Name Allies -OrganizationalUnit ExchangeUsers -Database "ServerName\Storage Group\Mailbox Database" -UserPrincipalName Alise@domain.com Enable mailbox for all pre-created users In an OU of AD.Get-user -OrganizationalUnit ExchangeUsers | Enable-Mailbox -Database "ServerName\storage group\mailbox Database" Regards Chinthaka

Hi Here is some other information for you. 1. You can create a user on AD server, but you can also create a user account in a specific OU, without mail box, if you want to create a mailbox for the user, you should use the EMS or EMC onEX2007 server. For more information please refer to the link below: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998319.aspx 2. You can create the user via on EX2007 server using the current EMC, I means that when you create a new mailbox, a user account can also be created and be populated to AD automatically. However the new user account is in the USER OU default. If you want to add it into a specific OU, you can do on the AD server or use the EMS on EX2007 server. So it is not very different from the first option in my opinion. For more information please refer to the link below: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998197.aspx 3. You can create the user using EMS. It can do all the tings-create a user, users mailbox and add it into a specific OU at the same time. For more information please refer to the link below: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998197.aspx Note: If you want to do some operations to many objects which have the same property, youd better use the EMS. It is a good way for you do the same operation to many objects. Just like what Chinthaka Shameera mentioned.
