allow automatic reply for a group of user
All,
We have disable "allow auto replies" in Default of remote domains (Running Exchange 2007). Due to some reason, we need to enable for some mailbox. Possible to enable for some mailbox ?? Not for all.
thanks

Hi Keith,
Yes you can have different OOF Setting for users and the setting is controlled by the parameter
-ExternalOOFOptions
By default, all users are allowed to sent an external OOF so what you need to do is to change the setting on those users that will
not be allowed to send external OOFs.
For users that are not allowed to send external OOF
Set-Mailbox USER -ExternalOOFOptions InternalOnly
For users that will be allowd to send external OOF (Default Setting)
Set-Mailbox USER -ExternalOOFOptions External

Hi Keith,
If you want to control external OOF capabilities at a per-domain to meet your needs, I'm afraid you cannot do that.
For more information, please see:

Hi Keith,
Do you mean you want to restrict auto reply created by Outlook rule?
If yes, you can try to use Transport rule. Please see this similar post:

Frank,
Yes, correct but we have over 30000++ mailboxes and 4 Transport server. If I set the transport rule for scaning each mail, will it slow down the mail transfer performance ??
thanks

Hi Keith,
You don't need to worry about performance too much for a single transport rule. As I know, Microsoft recommended a maximum of 1000 rules in Exchange 2007.Frank Wang
