You have exceeded the size limit on your mailbox
I'm having this really odd issue with one user, and for the life of me i cannot figure it out. The "Mailbox cleanup" window with the error "You have exceeded the size limit on your mailbox" keeps poping up. The user is running Outlook 2007 (on XP) connected to Exchange 2010. I have even moved the user to a new database and removed all limits. The user isnt running in cache mode, so there are no PST/OST in the equation. The Shell shows me... CAn he receive messages or send them (is the problem the same from OWA)? could you send the get-mailboxstatistics user| fl output?

You can also reproduce the issue for problematic user on a new machine, right? So the issue can be narrow down to the mailbox itself Please refer the method in the KB 913112 for troubleshooting. Although the steps are applied to exchange 2003 and outlook 2003, but the idea could be used for this situationJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Hi JoyNYC, You can try ScanPST.exe to fix that PST or create new PST not Outlook Data File 97-2002, or your user is run out of space..

So based on this is KB article its either… 1-You are using Outlook 2003 in Cached Exchange Mode. 2-The mailbox is synchronized with the Offline Folder (.ost) file 3-Your mailbox contains corrupted items. The first 2 are in my situation not true. The last is certainly a possibility but a)I recently moved this mailbox from Exch2k3 to Exch2k10, would the move bring over corrupted items? b)is there a version of Exmerge that works with Exch2k10?

As i clearly state in my question, there are no PST/OST in the equation.

Hi have u check this thread. The issue was resolved with set-mailbox mailbox -UseDatabaseQuotaDefaults $false http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/0f708b2b-00d5-4221-bae8-4e7d6411e526

“Your mailbox contains corrupted items” is the reason I provided this KB. Although move-mailbox will check the corrupted items during the process, I still think there’s a chance the issue is related to the items in the problematic mailbox, as you can reproduce the same symptom in another machine, right? Thanks for the info, i'll give it a shot. Btw, is it in any ways possible that its related to the fact that the user has the mailbox open on 2 machines using 2 different versions of outlook (2003 and 2007)? Ironically the issue does not occur on the machine running 2003.
