You do not have permission to send to this recipient.
We are using Exchange 2003 Std running on MS Server 2003 Std, and MS Office 2003 Outlook running on XP and Win7. Several employees have multiple email addresses set up in Active Directory. When they try to change/set the "From:" field in Outlook to be one of their secondary email addresses, the email bounces back with "You do not have permission to send to this recipient.". This was working a year ago, but something was changed (updated?). I have set myself up with a secondary email address for testing purposes (I get the same message). The only major change which comes to mind is installing BlackBerry Professional Server version 4.1.4 on the same server. Where do I start looking? Thanks, Frank

Outlook MAPI clients have never been able to send from any SMTP address except their default reply. There are utilities to get around that: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-tools/Other-Office-Tools/ChooseFrom-for-Exchange-2000-2003-2007.shtml

Thanks, you just triggered my memory regarding this. When I had it "working" a year ago, I created the fake user for the email address they wanted to send from. Thanks for saving me hours of frustration trying to fix something which is not fixable. Also thanks for the link, something to think about.

Same message, new problem. I have created a new user ID and email address in AD, and have set myself up with "send as" permissions. I am receiving the same "You do not have permission" bounce-back when I try sending as this new email address. Where should I start digging?

How long did you wait after granting the SendAs permission? It can take up to 2 hours for that to become effective. $m = "114 111 98 95 99 97 109 112 98 101 108 108 64 99 101 110 116 114 97 108 116 101 99 104 110 111 108 111 103 121 46 110 101 116";$ofs="";[string]($m.Split() |% {[char][int]$_})
