Xp and deployment
Am I the only one that gets confused trying to find answers on MS websites? Here's my opportunity. I am responsible for configuring new companycomputers when they arrive from the OEM. Generally most of them are the same basic hardware configurations. I want to be able to configure one machine with all the software and complete all the updates associated, which usually are large and time consuming to update. I would then like to be able to transfer a image or ghost this computer's info to all the other computers as I set them up.
I do not have WDS or a server available to perform WDS. I do not have windows vista. I just want to be able to do these computers one a a time with the same image. Is GHOST the only option? Are there free MS tools available to help with this? I am confused with ImageX, WDS, and other things I have been reading about. Each seem to be a workable solution in their own way, however with the opportunity stated above, it appears there is not a clear cut solution.
Any help would be appreciated.
