XP SP2 and Office 2007 / general graphics appearance
I am experiencing something unusual with a desktop version of XP SP2 and the way graphics are rendering on the ASUS LCD. Web pages don't fully render withall the smoothing out and backgrounds and Office 2007 looks really bad with it's icons looking like 16 bit versions. I am really not sure whatis causingthis? Here is an image of the problem in Word 2007 - Note the windows icon top left and general grey appearance http://img02.picoodle.com/img/img02/3/10/26/f_wordProblemm_36a0601.jpg Thanks

Hi Gav, When you run the exe filein compatibility mode, with the color depth set to 256 colors, you face an issue similar to yours. You undo this by right clicking on the executable. (in this case it would be under C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 and then winword.exe for Word) Properties of that file, then Compatibility tab. Click the uncheck the "Run as 256 Color" option under display. That should work! I had a user who was getting the same thing when they open any of the Office Applications. It looked like the Application was set to 16 colors. If i open the application under a different profile the application displayed correctly. Log in using the account having the issue Open the Control Panel > Acessibility Options > Display Uncheck the box to Use High Contrast. Apply Settings. Hopes this helps
