Would it be possible to warn a user he is in the BCC line
Hello all, I am not sure I am posting this question in the right group, please correct if it needs to go somewhere else. I have been asked to investigate the possibility to let a user know he has been bcc'ed on a message. I've tried explaining the idea behind bcc, and that it someone could be looking to the To and CC, and if he is not there, he must be in the bcc. I also checked rules, and custom view, to highlight the text of a mail, or set a flag in a specific color. This however is not what my customer wants. As far as I am aware it is not possible to determine who is in the bcc, and to do an action on that mail for that adressee. Think of adding a header saying 'you have been bcc'ed' Is it possible to perform such an action, either on the client, or on the server? Exchange 2003 SP2 on Windows 2003 SP1, Outlook 2003 SP2 Thank you in advance for replies. GJ Alink

Don't you just hate those morons who hit reply to all before taking time to notice if they were in the BCC of a message? They ruin it for the rest of us! Exchange 2003 does not offer anything like what you are describing. God only knows if there's some crazy 3rd party tool that accomplishes this. (well God and whoever is developing, selling and using it) Exchange 2007 offers transport rules, which *may* be closer to what the customer is looking for. something like, send the message back to the user with additional text, warning them. But I can't think of anything for Exchange 2003. Maybe there is a GPO option to remove the BCC?

I'm not sure if this is accurate (and the link doesn't seem to work), but is this of any use: http://gsexdev.blogspot.com/2004/08/detecting-bccs-with-smtp-event-sink.html
