Words with accent (á) are changed by question mark (?) in an email message
Hi all... When we send a corporate email the words with accent are changed by a question mark (?) or a symbol. We make the message in html and then put it on the message's body. The same case is when we fill a form in our website and then submit the request to send an email. When we receive the message, words with accent are change by question mark. But if I send a message using Owa or Ms Outlook Client the words with accents don't change, both test work well. We recently migrate from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. In exchange 2003 both tasks worked fine, but after migration that taks don't work. I hope you can help me to know how to resolve this. Best regards.

Website server sends the mail to exchange server via SMTP, right? Website server -> … (Anything at here?) -> Exchange server Please enable the transport pipeline for the mails from website, and check the .eml copies Resources: Using Pipeline Tracing to Diagnose Transport Agent ProblemsJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Please check the charset in the problematic message header, see if the value is “us-ascii” or anything abnormal. US-ASCII does not support special characters, which is bypassing by exchange 2003 but is validated by the exchange 2007 Notes: Exchange 2007 follows RFC 2616 “When no explicit charset parameter is provided by the sender, media subtypes of the "text" type are defined to have a default charset value of "ISO-8859-1" when received via HTTP” So, you can configure the website server to define different supported charset (iso-8859-1) or don’t define any (Exchange 2007 will guess it’s iso-8859-1 by default, and accept it) Resources: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 RFC and Support for StandardsJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
