Word DOCM file won't work on some machines

To all,
I have a DOCM file that has check boxes & boxes to type in that was created using Word 2010.  About half of our machines seem to be able to open this file with no problems & are able to check the boxes in the document & type into the boxes with no problems.  However, the other half of the machines cannot.  We can open the file, but when we go down to the checkbox, it acts like it is modifying the form.  If we go to the boxes to type into, it will likewise act like it is modifying the form & will actually let you type, but removes the box & puts what you type there instead.  Most of machines are on Office 2013 now, & the machines having issues can try it in Word 2010 & 2013 & neither works.  We've compared settings & do not see the differences in the machines.  If anyone has an idea what may be causing it, we would certainly appreciate any & all ideas to try.

Thanks, Jon

Hi Jon

Apparently  the forms or editing protection is being removed, the only question is WHY. It might be a macro running on certain machines...

But as this question isn't related to programming the Word application (writing code) I'm going to move it to the more relevant IT Pro forum in the TechNet sector where you'll find more people who deal with this kind of problem on a regular basis.
