Word 2013 recognizing network pathway incorrectly

Hello,

I have a hyperlink to a directory within Word that is to go to a network location. for example \\oit\folder

On a Windows 7 machine, when you click on the pathway (word 2010), it goes to the directory without any issues.

but on Windows 8, Word 2013, the first part of the pathway gets changed somehow to file:///\\

How can I stop this from happening? I want to  be able to click in the link within Word and have it go to the directory.

Thank you.

Hi,

I tested this issue in my own environment, and I didn't get your result. I added a network location to Word2010 in Windows 7, and then I added the same location to Word 2013 in Windows 8 with the same result as shown in the following figure.

If possible, I suggest you send a screenshot or a sample file about this kind of location >>for example \\oit\folder<< to our email address:
ibsofc@microsoft.com
Note: Please add the URL of the case in the email subject or body.

I'm glad to help and follow up your reply.

Hello,

I am going to email you. Remember, I am using Word 2013 and this is on a Windows 8 machine.

The only way to get the network directory  to be recognized is for me to make an actual shortcut and put it in a zip file, but I should be able to put the same pathway in a Word document and have it be recognized, right?

The same pathway works on a Windows 7 machine when it is clicked on from a Word document.

Thank you for your help.
