Word 2013 - Print Current Page always prints page one

Hi,

The "Print Current Page" option in Word 2013 only prints page 1.

This happens with both old and new documents as well as documents created with 32bit vs 64bit Office 2013.  There doesn't seem to be any pattern.  I have this problem on at least four different machines and at least one of them was rebuilt from scratch.

I've repaired Office on all the machines with no change.

I've taken old documents created in earlier versions of Word and pasted "text only" to a new document and saved it in the new format - no change.

I find plenty of suggetions for Word 2010 and 2007 but nothing for 2013.

I've tried deleting the Normal.dotm file as suggested in one of the 2010 posts but that didn't help either.

I can enter the page number and print the appropriate page but my users don't want to do that.

We've also found that an envelope at the begining of the document throws the page numbering off.

If I have an envelop in a document and I want to print the first page of the letter and not the envelope.

I have to tell Word to print page #1 instead of page #2 like the print preview shows.

Thanks  Art S.

I am having the same problem in our office on all (about 100) copies of Microsoft Office Standard 2013 64-bit.  The problem does not occur on the few clients using Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 64-bit.  I suspect this is a bug in the Office Standard.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I think you are right.  I installed the pro version on my machine at home and it works fine.  I'm going to test this theory out at work.  Thanks for your feedback!

I have the same problem, print current page prints page 1 instead. I don't have the Pro version to fall back on.

We have opened a paid support case with Microsoft.  They have no idea what is going on.  The creator of this post perfectly describes our problem to the T.  So far, nothing we have tried works.  Maybe a windows update caused the issue?  Not all users in the office have the problem but seems like it is spreading.

Please post if anyone finds anything.  ANYTHING.

I have the same issue with Office Professional Plus 2013 (32 bit) on Windows 8 64 bit.

It occurs both when printing on a Dymo label printer as well as on the HP UPD driver to a HP laser printer.

When you select "Print Current Page", the correct page to be printed is displayed on the right of the dialog, but the first page is printed.

The only work around I found is to look at the page number, then type that number under Pages in the print dialog. You then get the correct page printed.

We also found that as a work around which is good if you are in a bind.  Some people aren't too happy with that due to when working on large docs with table of contents and page number, the page number doesn't exactly line up with the document page number, thus wasting more time.

We also found another work around.  Wiping out and rebuilding the users windows profile has, so far, fixed the issue.  This doesn't tell us what the cause was and most likely it will happen again and we will have to rebuild the profile again.  We were using all sorts of print drives that the issue was consistence with:

Toshiba eStudio 850

HP Laserjet 4000

PDF writer using latest GhostScript driver

XPS maker

We are also experiencing this issue with Office 365 (which uses the Click-to-Run Installation).  Has anyone heard back from Microsoft regarding this issue?

Also, for us sometimes the "Print Selection" button is greyed out.  Has anyone experienced this issue?

I have the same problem. it prints page 1 even if i am on page 30 or 40. The drivers are ok. in Word 2007 it works just fine, even in .pdf, print current page works just fine!

Hi Guys,

I have almost same issue as well.. whenever I print current page it just print the first page. and if I print with page number nothing prints. Tried same document is different computers but same effect. I am using office home and business2013. I also noticed that it will print if leave 'markup' option on in document. if markup option is set to original this problem happens.

This is interestingand it's new information, as far as I can tell.

Which "markup" option are you referring to (in the Backstage/Print Preview or somewhere else)? Which version of Word?

I am interested in the Mark up issue.  As I have a few PC out of 100 that are also having this issue.  All brand new Win 7 Enterprise deployed via image.

Stefan, until recently (yesterday, in fact) I've always been able to change the print option to "Print Current Page" and get the printer to spit out whatever page my cursor was resting on. Yesterday, I noticed that each time I clicked to Print Current Page only, I got page 1. (I'm using Word 2013 and Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus, Office Update version 15.0.4551.1512.) Today, I tried printing the page I wanted to two different printers, but nothing was printed. Can you fix it?? Thanks.

What has changed since yesterday? A Windows update? Or an updated printer driver? If you applied manual updates, uninstall those again. Or you might try to go back to an earlier Windows restore point. See http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/system-restore (for Windows 7) or http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc (Windows 8).

This is a great thread.  I too have experienced this same issue on my Windows 7 Pro PC running Office 2013 Pro plus 64Bit.  My wife has the same issue on her work Office 365 subscription.  MSFT, please fix your mistakes.  This is annoying.

Same issue here with Office 2013 Home & Bus Edition, 32-bit.  This thread is EIGHT MONTHS OLD and still no fix?

The workaround I have - and not a very good one - is in Word, do a Save As, and save as a PDF. Then open with Adobe and print the range you want.

I may have found a solution.

I started re-testing different things and I found one document where "Print Current Page" works.

I deleted all the text from this document and saved it as a MS Word Template .dotx.

I dropped that file into the template directory...

C:\Users\UserID\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

I created a new document from that template, pasted the contents from a document where "Print Current Page" didn't work, saved it and SUCCESSFULLY Tested it!!!

I don't know why this didn't work when I tried creating a new template from scratch before but there it is.

Let me know you have the same luck!
