Hi, Please firstly let me know whether the issue only occurs when sending email with attachment to external users or occurs both on internal users and external users. Whether the issue occurs on specific users or all users. Please understand that the Winmail.dat file is used to preserve formatting that the sending client includes in the message, but the receiving client does not recognize the Winmail.dat file. For detailed information: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290809/en-us Thus, I suggest that you attempt the following method to troubleshoot the issue if the method list in the above KB cannot solve the issue: 1. Whether the latest updates have been installed on Exchange 2007 and Outlook. 2. If the email encoding (Winmail.dat) was modified in the transfer process (by some Anti-virus or Anti-Spam software), the issue will occur. Thus, please check your Anti-virus or Anti-Spam software on the Exchange Server and Client. 3. If you have Transport Rule (such as Disclaimer) enabled, I also suggest that you temporarily disable them to troubleshoot the issue. 4. You can also start the Outlook in safe mode (run Outlook /safe) to troubleshoot the issue Mike
