Windows 8, Excel 2013 Super user, Excel Instances

Hi

We have a high power excel user that has just been upgrade to a new laptop with Windows 8 64bit and Excel 2013 32bit.

Laptop has 8gb ram and SSD.

Excel is 32bit and i understand it has the 2gb memory limit.

The client is coming from a windows 7 with Excel 2010.

He used to be able to open 13 Excel Spreadsheets in Excel 2010 and work fine, with the new laptop it keeps crashing when he starts to open the 9th or 10th sheet wither white frozen screen or memory limit error.

Can anyone shed any light on this.

Cheers

Hi,

According to your description, this issue is due to memory limit when running Excel 2013 32bit version. Excel 2010 and Excel 2013 has many differences, one of the most important difference is that there is no MDI compatibility option in Excel 2013.

This behavior might increase the usage of RAM, thus, I recommend you use 64 bit Excel 2013 and it will help you handle more multiple Excel workbook at same time.
