Windows 2008 R2 servers loses remote desktop config

Hi

I have a Windows 2008 r2 VM server and I have noticed that if I shut down the server (deallocated) when I come to restart it I can not connect to it using remote desktop. To resolve this I have to delete the remote destop endpoint and recreate it using the same public and private ports - it then works fine. This only happens to the 2008 R2 server, all my other Windows 2012 server never have this issue - does anyone know why this might be happening?

Thanks

Simon

Hi,

Have you tried to resize the VM? If not, please resize it and see if you can RDP into it. If that works then you can resize it back to the original size.

You can also check the below links for troubleshooting guidelines.

Hope it helps.

Thanks - this actually seems to be related to Exchange rather than the O/S. I created a new Windows 2012 VM and installed Exchange 2013 and I have the exact same issue.

Not sure why Exchnage servers don't come back after being shut down.

Hi simoncarlson,

As the query is more related to Exchange server and you have already isolated it. I would move the thread to Exchange server Forum threads for a better answer.

This isn't a development question and is better suited for the Exchange setup forum.
