Windows 2003 File Server clustering with Exchange 2007
Hi, I need to know if it is possible to have clustering of Exchange 2007 and Windows file server on the same cluster nodes? As i need to use the same hardware for windows file server and exchange mailbox store in cluster mode with a single shared storage (DiskArray). Brief scenario setup: 2 node cluster the cluster hosts a file server each node hosts a CCR node with the CCR data stores locally nodes. (local HDD). SAN hosts user's data and files. I want to have exchange 2007 CCR configuration and also provide windows file sharing for users data, and their home directories. My concern is the quorum configuration for both the services. As in exchange 2007 CCR, the quorum will be the MNS, but for file server, where will be my quorum? So can we have two quorum on a cluster for two different services? Hope i am clear in my description of my scenarios. thanks.

Hi, Exchange 2007 CCR Cluster is completly new design. In CCR you should have 3 server, one server where you have CAS and HUB, two servers for your Mailboxe role one will be active and another will be passive. To configure Quorum disk microsoft recommends to provide File share witness on CAS and Hub server. To create file shares cluster you need cluster with shared disks. So you should create on your disk array separate LUNs and attach another hosts to this LUNs to make second cluster. The only option for sharing cluster between Exchange 2007 and File server is make Exchange Single Copy Cluster but it's not so good like CCR. Or you can decide to use different method of failover for File shares (e.g. DFS).Regards, Konrad Sagala, MCT, 5xMCITP, MCTS: Exchange 2010
