Windows 2000 Small Business Server to Windows 2003 Exchange Server
have a customer that needs to retire their Windows 2000 Small Business Server. The customer will not be upgrading to Small Business Server 2003, which is the path Microsoft suggests to obtain the end result of Windows 2003 Exchange Server. My question is how can the mailboxes from W2K SBS be transferred to the Windows 2003 Exchange Server in a new domain that will have the same DNS namespace. Is it possible to save the mailboxes as .pst files and then transfer them through individual workstations?

Hi, Yes absolutely. You need to investigate a MS piece of software called ExMerge. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&familyid=429163EC-DCDF-47DC-96DA-1C12D67327D5 This will allow you to do exactly what you say and is great for small migrations. You can export all existing mail to PST files and will (if you get the file names correct) be able to import them all back into the new server in one go. Cheers Nathan
