Win 10 Excel 2013 won't open files on double-click

After upgrading to Windows 10, My excel 2013 spreadsheet files won't open on double-click.  I can get around this by first opening excel and then dragging the file onto the app BUT this is a PITA.

I have researched this and done the various things suggested i.e. unchecking advanced options "ignore other applications...", and RUN Excel.exe /regserver, etc. to no avail.

I have upgraded 3 computers (two desktops and one laptop) to Windows 10 running Office 365 for small business applications and have encountered the same issue.

Any suggestions/solutions are appreciated.

Hi Angus MacDuff,

Based on your description, I suggest you try to reset file associations:

1.Please go to Control Panel.
2.Click Default Programs, and then click Set your default programs.
3.Click Excel, and then click Choose default for this program.
4.On the Set Program Associations screen, click Select All, and then click Save.

If this method not work for you, please try to repair your Office Program. You may have to restart your computer after the repair process is finished.

Please try these methods and let me know if they work for you. I'm glad to help and follow up your reply.
