Will there be any issue if we remove Exchange server from DC and then rejoin it to another with same name?
Hi, To be more precise, We have a domain(say, TESTDOMAIN.COM). Now for some reasons, we have to recreate our DC in a different system with the same name and same users. I was wondering whether it may effect our Exchange server 2007 configuration or not!! We have edge server configured And we dont have any ADC or BDC cinfigured. The OS version of Exchange server is 2008. Please let me know, if there is any known issue regarding this!! Thanks in advance.

I am a little unclear on your situation. Is Exchange installed on your DC? Do you only have one DC in your environment? If so, you need to stand up another DC before you decommission your current DC. Why do you have to keep the same DC name on the different system? I would install the different system with a DC role with DNS and GC, and transfer the FSMO roles and you would be done. Hi, If you are changing the primary DC which is having all roles then it will effect the exchange till you get these role restore on some other DC or till the DC is not available, i.e. Exchange will not accessible till the time DC is not accessibleRipu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

One other follow-up comment. Exchange is tied in heavily to AD (Schema, etc). If you have one DC, not planning on adding a 2nd DC, and plan on rebuilding that DC on different hardware, you will need to restore AD as it was on the new server (system state). If you are planning on decommissioning the DC, rebuilding on a new server with the same name from scratch, Exchange is not just going to start working as there will be no entries in the Schema, permissions in the domain, etc. Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com
