Because Outlook 2003 or earlier version get information of OAB, Free/Busy from Public Folders while Outlook 2007 uses Web Distribution point for OAB and autodiscover/availibility service for Free/Busy lookup with Exchange 2007 EWS... Understanding Public Folders http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb397221.aspx ================================================ In ExchangeServer2007, public folders are an optional feature. If all client computers in your organization are running Microsoft OfficeOutlook2007, there are no dependencies on public folders for features such as free and busy information and offline address book (OAB) downloads. Instead of using public folders for OAB downloads and free and busy information, in Exchange2007, these features are serviced by the Autodiscover service,Exchange Web Services, the Microsoft ExchangeSystem Attendantservice, and the Microsoft ExchangeFile Distribution service. To connect to Exchangefor OAB and Schedule+ free and busy functionality, all client computers running Outlook2003, Outlook2002, Outlook 2000, or Outlook98 require public folders to be deployed. Exchange2007is the first version of Exchangethat providesyou with the option to not use public folders. However, until all client computers in your organization are running Outlook2007, you should continue using public folders. ================================================ Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA, MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

we have a public folder for our Technical support department folder name is "TechSupport" and we created 10 calendars under that folder. we are using EWS to schedule appointment for that calendars till now it is good. but our requirement is to schedule appointment in next available business hour on that calendars. so can any one suggest me how to use free/busy service for these public folder calendars so that we can find available hrs and schedule an appointement for the next available hour. if there is no way to query public folders Then how can we Query public folders is there any other way todo that or do we need to write our own code. if there is a chance to use free/busy service on public folder do we need a email address for each calendars that we create. because we are not enabled email for these calendars and we don't want to maintain email addresses. below articles saying that we can use free/busy service on PF folders. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125182.aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh310374.aspx
