Why embedded excel sheets have been transformed into images in Word 2010?

The users are having issue with embedded excel sheet changing into image by itself. This has been happening randomly for the last 6-8 months.

The users create an excel worksheet then create a document. Copy the worksheet content using special paste into Word to create as Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object. Close the document, and sometime in the future when the document is opened for editing the excel sheet had been transformed into image.

We are unable to recreate this and are not sure what is causing this.

The product being used is MS Office Professional Plus 2010, the OS is Windows 7

Any help or guidance will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you for posting in the MSDN Forum.

Since the issue is more relate to the feature of Office, I'd like to move it to Office 2010 IT Pro general discussion forum.

The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us.

Thanks for your understanding.

Hi,

In regarding your issus, this sounds like third-party software on your machine, interfering with the OLE process (the technical thing that lets the an object change the format from an outside application inside Word).

I recommend you fix it by disabling all COM Add-ins in Excel 2010.
Close word, and open a blank Excel worksheet. In Excel go to file>options>add-ins. Then down the bottom select COM Add-ins from the drop down menu and hit go. Uncheck everything hit ok. Close the options menu close Excel.

And here is a similar issue:
