Why do messages to specific recipient get stuck in queue?
Hello all, I have an Exchange 2003 server (SP2) and need a little help solving this problem. A user tries to send an email from her Outlook to her husband's email address (a Yahoo email account). The email has a large attachment (5-6MB). The email gets stuck in Retry in the Queue in Exchange System Manager. This has happened a few times when sending to this user. Usually I am alerted to the stuck message because my internet connection slows to a crawl as our upload bandwidth is saturated. If I look at the Queues in Exchange System manager I do not see the stuck message at first. Usually I have to block all outgoing mail (from our firewall) and then I can get the message to show up in the Queue where I can delete it. Any idea on what would cause this and how to fix it? Thanks for any help you can provide!

You might enable SMTP protocol logging and look at the log for a clue as to what might be going on. From your description it appears that Yahoo! Mail might be implementing some sort of antispam measures. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . Thanks Ed. Is there any way to stop my Exchange server from constantly trying to send the message and thus chewing up my bandwidth?
