Hello, I am a junior admin for my company's Exchange Server 2007. I just disabled a mail contact item and received the message "Disabling the mail contact will remove the Exchange properties from the Windows object. Are you sure you want to disable?". Of course I clicked yes thinking that I could easily enable the mail contact again, however, that doesn't seem to be the case. I tried to enable the contact by going through the "new mail contact" wizard and browsing for an existing contact but the contact that I want to enable is no longer there. Someone help, where do the disabled mail contacts go when they are marked as disabled? Do I have to re-create this mail contact?

Hi,After disabling the contact, the contact will remain in Active Directory.You can try to check whether this issue occurs on another contact.ThanksAllen

Hi, Also check it you get the contact by below command. Get-Contact -anr <"First name or Last name or displayname or name"> If you do then you can use below command to enable it. Copy the name from the output of above command if you get multiple objects. Get-Contact -id <"Copied name"> | Enable-MailContact -DisplayName <"new displayname"> -Alias <New Alias> -ExternalEmailAddress <"external email address where the mail should forwarded"> -PrimarySMTPAddress <"Email Address"> Hope this helps.
