When to disable IPv6
Hello When is it recommended to disable the IPv6 protocol? When the DisabledComponents is configured with an other value than "0" I'm not able to finish the setup without errors. I would like to use the value "ffffffff" to disable it completly, is it ok when I change it after the setup? Thanks Norbert

Hello Norbert, Please understand that we mainly discuss Exchange issues in this forum, in order to get a prompt and exact answer, I suggest writing a post on the Vista networking forums: http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=716&SiteID=17 Thanks, Elvis

Hello Elvis Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry for the bad description. My first post was indicated to the Exchange Server 2007 Installation on a Windows Server 2008 system with / without IPv6 enabled. Do you have an input how and when this protocol could be disabled? Thanks Norbert

Hello Norbert, Well, there is an issue that I know with Outlook Anywhere and IPv6, you can refer below article for it Outlook Anywhere Client Connectivity Issue Because of TCP/IPv6http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc671176(EXCHG.80).aspx Further information on IPv6 support you can refer below article.IPv6 Support in Exchange 2007 SP1http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629624(EXCHG.80).aspx By default, IPv6 is enabled in Windows 2008. If you want to disable IPv6 for any reasons then along with disabling in Local Area Connection, you have to use Registry Editor to completely disable IPv6 by adding a registry key DisabledComponents with value = 0xffffffff in Hexadecimal or 4294967295 in Decimal to disable all IPv6 components otherwise you will get the error mentioned in KB. The installation of the Exchange Server 2007 Hub Transport role may be unsuccessful on a Windows Server 2008-based computerhttp://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=952842 Hope this helps...!!
