Whatif we enable user account in resource forest ?? [resource forest & account forest topology]
Hi everybody, In the topology of 2 forest with 1 forest as account forest [store user], 1 forest as exchange resource forest [have exchange with linked-mailbox, user in AD is disabled]. Whatif we enable user account in resource forest ?? Do anyone has try this before ?? Due to technical issues I want to maintain accounts in exchange resource forest in enable state. Thanks for any comment, Vic

the enabled account in the account forest has access to corrosponding mailbox with disabled user account in the other forest. as far this remains intact you will not face access issues. afterall if you were to enable them why resource forest all ? why dedicated forest for exchange .. if you were to enable account then that topology is obselete from perfromance and all reasons to have resource forest Dhruv

hi, thanks for comment. There's a fact I didn't share ... Actually, I'm in the process of testing migrate AD-Exchange & all LDAP authentication applications to a new forest due to our corporate name changes. We have 1400 users to migrate, and We decided to migrate them in phases based on departments & OUs. With this decision, we are facing a fact that 50% user in new forest, 50% user in old forest ... we have to choose from specifying LDAP for applications to old forest or new forest ... We chose pointing to old forest for LDAP authentication, it means user accounts must be enabled ... and with exchange 2007, we planned to switch old forest to resource forest, new forest to account forest ... that's why We wonder if user acc at old forest can be enable ? [with the fact that resource forest user acc must be disable :(] Hope that you catch my thought, Vic
