What setting in Exchange 2010 sets my Outlook clients Outlook Anywhere publicly routable server's hostname?
I am trying to identify which setting in Exchange 2010, is used for generating the hostname in the autodiscover XML file, for setting the Outlook Anywhere host name for my Outlook 2010 clients? We recently changed domain names and I would like the Outlook clients to be updated with the new public FQDN of our mail server using our new domain name. Currently the clients are still pointing to the old host name, which works because the IP addresses are the same, but I'd prefer to clean things up properly.

Get-OutlookAnywhere | ft ServerName,ExternalHostname To set it, Get-OutlookAnywhere | Set-OutlookAnywhere -ExternalHostname <yourexternalhostname> Dont forget AutoDiscover,EWS, ECP,OAB and OWA URLs as well AND the POP3 and IMAP4 host names if you utilize those.

I was under the impression that there's also a way to change the Outlook Anywhere setting in the XML file by changing one of the settings through the EMS gui, rather than through Exchange PowerShell?

You can change the the OutlookAnywhere in EMC by clicking on Server Configuration, Right-Click on one of your ClientAccess servers, click properties, then click the Outlook Anywhere tab. This must be done for all Client Access servers, that is why PS is better, the one command sets all CAS'. There are no settings in the Autodiscover.XML file on the server as it is dynamically generated when the user requests it (via the AutoDiscover service). Now there is a way to generate a static AutoDiscover XML and place it on the workstation (or maybe send it via script/GPO), but that is alot of headache unless you have a special case. Here is the URL that discusses the XML file. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc511507.aspx

Thanks, Russ. We only have a single Exchange 2010 Server, hosting all the server functions (Hub, Client Access, etc.) so changing the setting through the EMC should be fine for us. Thanks!
