Currently have published OWA through Web application proxy (Exchange 2013)

Typing in https://webmail.contoso.com/owa which redirects to our mail server for OWA.

question is - if i user types into browser https://webmail.contoso.com 

can i redirect this request so that OWA opens?  - currently https://webmail.contoso.com lands at page can't be displayed.

I am able to successfully redirect internally, the problem is when publishing exchange 2013 through the Web Application Proxy server 

If i attempt to publish https://webmail.contoso.com - I get an error informing me that 

"The following external URL https://webmail.contoso.com:443/ cannot be used because it conflicts with an external URL of Exchange Web Services published web application that is already configured to use https://webmail.contoso.com:443/EWS/."

The issue seems to be allowing the webproxy server to listen just on webmail.contoso.com

I'm sorry to say but with this version of Web Application Proxy, you won't be able to publish the parent path AND sub directories. This is due to the fact that you can't nest applications.

In effect, if you publish the root path (https://webmail.contoso.com/), and then try to publish EWS (https://webmail.contoso.com/EWS/), EWS becomes a nested application of root.
