I was recently scouring the internet for articles on pig training (a whole different forum) and all of a sudden everything slowed up and then froze up. I immediately disconnected from the internet and ran a scan with Microsoft Security Essentials. At first the scan showed a potential threat but after the complete scan the message was no virus found. A few minutes later a dialog box popped up stating that Powershell had crashed, this was a legitimate crash warning.
I needed a website that I was working with on this infected laptop so I started up VS 2013 to get them and the user information/product information dialog start up and had a couple of odd statements in it.
1.) This license will expire in 2147483647 days.
2.) Your license has gone stale and must be updated. Please make sure the internet is connected.
After statement 2 there is a link to check for an update.
The amount of days definitely put me off but use of the word stale sealed the deal. Visual Studio is sick.
So after my long torrid tale the question is: To whom do I send the screenshot of the product information page? And would such group be interested in Powershell crash warning (if it showed up once it will do it again).
Obviously I am not using this laptop nor have I turned it back on since.
Regards,
James Remick
