Visio hyperlinks criteria for correct PDF export

Hi everybody,

I am using Visio 2010 and i am trying to understand how to create hyperlinks in order to have them correctly exported to PDF. I made two tests:

1) New project from scratch, with two pages and no layers. In the first page there is a text label with an hyperlink to the second page: it is correctly exported to PDF and it works properly

2) Working on an existing project, having 93 pages, lots of text labels and shapes organized in different layers. I tried to add hyperlinks to different objects, but when I save it as PDF all hyperlinks are lost

I can figure out what is preventing hyperlinks to be exported to PDF, I checked the manual and many resources on the internet but I still have no clue. Any idea?

Many thanks,

Andrea

The answer is 'it depends',  different implementations (i.e. vendors) have different capabilities. You might check this out

Hi Al,

thanks for your reply! However, I have already read the article you posted, but it didn't help me. I also downloaed and examined the Visio file they use for test, but my file still fails in converting correctly.

BTW, I am creating PDFs using "Save as..." menu item, I haven't tried Acrobat yet.

Best regards,

Andrea

Hi,

Based on my research, as for Visio 2010, adding a Hyperlink to a shape and then saving the drawing as PDF, then the hyperlink will be preserved in the PDF file when viewed with the Adobe.

And it seems cannot be done without some other PDF programs which to be told not free.

Friends, sorry for delay, but I'm facing the same issue.

I have a project with tree hyperlinks on first page to other pages (I have ten pages on my project).

When I use "save as... " to convert it to PDF, just one hyperlink is preserved.

What do I need do to keep the others hyperlinks working after the conversion ?

Thanks in advance !

Claudio.
