Visio 2013 Professional - Missing UML Model Diagram (Creating a component or deployment diagram)

Hi,

I am using Visio 2013 Professional and therefore thought I'd own all UML templates. BUT: I just wanted to create a UML component and deployment diagram, but can't find their templates!

I got many UML templates under New -> Categories -> Software and Database, but these two are missing.

Also following the instructions for Visio 2010 (listed below) did not work, because Visio 2013 Pro is also missing the mentioned "UML Model Diagram":

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio-help/create-a-uml-deployment-diagram-HP001208869.aspx?CTT=5&origin=HP001208814

There's not even an official guide on how to create a component or deployment diagram with Visio 2013!!

So: How do I create these two?

Thanks!

The UML and Database support files are in the Visio Professional product, not the Visio Standard version.

What? Did you even read my post? Sry, but I clearly said I am already using the professional version..

Have you activated the product, yet? Some of the features don't show up until after activation. They also require you to have enabled code execution in the  trust center.

Yes, it is already activated since I installed it. The Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is enabled in the trust center..

Does you or anyone own Visio 2013 Pro and have a chance to create a uml component / deployment diagram?

Hi,

UML Model Diagram is removed in Visio 2013.

Thanks!

This is very disappointing of Microsoft ):

I mean, these are very common diagrams, which were even supported in older Visio versions.

Why would anybody think that if Visio supported the full set of UML models in 201 that if they paid money to upgrade to the next version of the product AND it claimed to support the same model set that one or more of the standard UML models would be missing.  If I had knowing this I never would have upgraded. As it is I had to recommend to a client that they should avoid upgrading from Visio 2010 - indeed we are now looking at alternatives to MS for this.

I don't know which is worse the original problem or the insulting "replies" to the original post

Agree.  So much for Microsoft working with standards.
