Visio 2010 stuck on splash screen

Windows 7 64 bit.  32 bit Visio 2010.

User changed pathname in options/advanced menu.  Visio no longer starts.  Splash screen is displayed.  Can start Visio in safe mode, but don't have access to advanced menu to see what user changed.

Hi,

Since Visio 2010 can start in safe mode, I suppose this issue may be caused by the add-ins. For example, some third-party add-ins might be not loaded correctly.

We can disable all the add-ins (File=>Option=>Add-ins), restart Visio 2010 and check if this issue still exists.

Then, we can reset the File location/path via Office AMDX template.

If this issue still exists, we may need to collect the event log to do further troubleshooting.

Started Visio in safe mode, doesn't look like any add-ins are running, no disabled items.  Downloaded the Office ADMX template, and don't understand how to start the program?  Downloaded the Configuration Analyzer tool, it found a couple of hyperlink errors, and fixed them.  Still can't start Visio.  Thanks.

Please try these steps to use ADMX:

Step 1: Copy the ADMX files inside the folder and copy them to C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions

Step 2: Next copy the files inside en-us folder and copy them to C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\en-US ( Assume that you used English version)

Step 3:

Open Group Policy editor -> Administrative Templates and you will see the Office 2013 policy templates

Hope it's helpful.
