View all unread messages of Parent or Sub Folder only

Hey very simple question, which provides no answers when googling.

How can one view all the unread messages of a single Parent folder, or any of its subfolders?

Ex. I have my Inbox folder with multiple subfolders, I am aware Outlook lacks the ability to list the number of unread emails when a sub folder is compacted, but can be remedied using search folders. (I don't use this feature much, but would expect that to be a default function of Outlook and subfolders.) That's a story for another time. Now in the Inbox folder I have 2 unread emails, I have so many emails it takes me a good while to scroll through the list to find them.

Now if I click on unread emails, it'll generate ALL unread emails. I have lots of rules for annoying notifications that I get sometimes up-to 20 a day, and I often ignore them. I know defeats the purpose of notification emails...

Anyway, how can I view the unread emails of a particular parent/subfolder?

Just select the folder and use the "Subfolders" search scope?

Thanks for the reply

After thinking about it for a bit I finally figured it out, a bit hidden like usual from MS products.

For other heres the answer:

1) Right click Unread Emails (as found at the top of the left nav tree in outlook)

2) Select "Customize this search folder.."

3) Then click the Browse button...

4a) Here's the trick, uncheck Search subfolders (to search a parent folder only)

4b) Uncheck the parent folder, and check any subfolders to check any sub folder only.

Hope this helps others.

Thanks Vasil!
