Various Problems with Live Meeting (Sharing, Refresh, Recordings)
Our company has just started using Live Meeting and have been having a few issues:

1.  Screen Refresh rates are poor.  We have changed the Hardware acceleration on all machines to None, but we are still having a refresh problem in LM when sharing applications or desktops.  For example, just paging down on a Word Document takes more than a couple of seconds to complete on the attendee screen.

2.  When sharing a desktop, cannot resize.  The attendee only sees a portion of the presenter's desktop with scroll bars to view other portions.  From what I've read in other threads, it's impossible to have a shared desktop fit in the screen of the attendee.  Is this correct?

3.  When viewing our recording thru the html file, the video portion of the video not only doesn't fit the screen, but is doubled in size.  There are scroll bars to view other portions of the video, but that is unacceptable for our purposes.  Is there a way to record the video so that it fits the frame when viewing the html version?

Hi TSW2010,

For question 1:

How are the users connected to the internet? Are all of the meeting participants within the same network? Are ALL meeting participants experiencing the latency?

For question 2:

When sharing your desktop or an application, the desktop/application will be shown at the size of the sharing presenter. The only way to resize the shared application/desktop is to change the screen resolution. However, attendees may still have a screen resolution differing from others, so in essence there is no true way to prevent the scroll bars from appearing for all participants.

For the last question, this also can be viewed the same way as the answer to question number 2. The video shared must be lowered in resolution in order for the size to align with the frame. Additionally, Attendee screen resolution can affect the appearance of the scroll bars, so also, there is no way to control this 100% of the time, as screen resolution of Attendees is something you cannot control as a presenter.

Hope this helps.

We've had people on our network and outside our network complain of lag.  It is very obvious paging thru a Powerpoint, each screen is drawn very slowly in blocks across the screen.

On your last paragraph, the recorded video appears in the html file that is produced significantly bigger than the original.  About 50% bigger than what appears originally.  It is normal size if you just load the video portion into Windows Media Player, but gets magnified in the html replay.

I also want to add to this. We have also seen so many display issues with LiveMeeting. We switched from GoToMeeting to LiveMeeting as part of migration to BPOS and the users love the email, sharepoint etc but they really are very dissatisfied with LM. The colors as seen by attendees are very very poor and our software which has many color dashboards with pie charts, bar graphs etc are presented very poorly which badly reflects on the sales team unfortunately. This is not not enough high speed connection, hardware acceleration etc issue... We have near 60/15 Mbps download upload in the office and others who are connecting are also large corporates with very reliable internet connections.

Is there any solution for this issue?

Hi,

It seems that you are using BPOS, then I would suggest you post the thread to BPOS queue. Thanks for understanding.

I take it you do not have an answer. Sending someone to a different thread just to get rid of them does not seem to conform to Microsoft's customer support promise. I want an answer to the same question and I have paid for Technet Plus. Basically the question being asked is "can Live Meeting refresh screens with less than 1 second delay - assuming fast hardware and network?" If it cannot, just tell us and we will stop wasting time and go back to GoToMeeting. If it can tell us that. If you don't know - admit it. But just passing the ball is unacceptable.

I also need an answer to this question.  We have 100 PSE's using this technology.  It has always been a little slow, but we have introdued a new Flash based UI and your refresh rate is unacceptably slow.  We will most likely have to use GoToMeeting if you can not offer a solution to improve the refresh rate.  I'm not sure what is causing the delay, but it appears to be painting backgrounds slowly.

Hi Keith,

We have also seem this with the later version of LM client on all systems from XP to Win764. The Video is unusabe as the page refresh is about 10 a minute.  We have 100BM line both ways and have no problem with other video conf systems so unfortunately will be dropping LM for another product

I am facing some horrible issues with windows 8 consumer preview screen sharing. It takes almost 45 seconds to refresh every frame and get my screen to attendees. I tried all resolutions and finally ended up in no solution. My laptops configuration is latest and I am still in confusion if I have to use live meeting for my next presentations. Some one please and please suggest on this.

Sharing on Live Meeting installed on Windows 8 64 bit takes a lot of time to refresh. While as, sharing from another computer with Win 7, on the same live meeting by different presenter, it works as normal. Something is wrong, please update!
