Utilise one slicer, different sources

I in effect have two differing data tables that I am running pivots from and presenting the data accordingly. There are some similar fields in the two differing data sets and for one that exists in both, I could like to create one slicer that then filters for all pivots accordingly from both data sets.

I don't want the user to have to filter for the same options in both slicers for the differing data sets. Is this possible with slicers?

Out of the box you can link different Pivot tables in Excel by one slicer only, if they share a Pivot Cache - means stem from the same table.

Now you have the choice between:

1) Use PowerQuery to combine your 2 tables into one table in your xls worksheet

2) Use Power Pivot to combine your 2 tables into one data model which can then also be sliced by one shared slicer

3) Create a macro

Please tell if you need any further help here.
